Virginia Beach Mall from in-depth, expert buying advice to personal after-sales care tailored to each customer, Video Games => Nintendo Switch => Accessories Switch Pro Controller for Nintendo Switch/Switch Lite Support Wa I've been using this switch pro controller for a couple days now and, overall, I'm very satisfied. It feels very comfortable in the hand, very similar to a standard xbox one controller. I love the thumbstick design -- I think it's more comfortable than the 1st party controllers and you can see in my second picture the micro-texturing on the thumbsticks which helps a lot with precision aiming and avoiding slippage. Also, the buttons are very responsive -- I just played a game last night where I had to do rapid repeated button taps, and it seemed to be registering every tap. The controller was also very easy to pair. They provided instructions on how to pair with the provided USB cord or via bluetooth. Honestly, the bluetooth pairing seemed kinda complicated and involves putting your switch in airplane mode temporarily, so I just used the usb cord and it paired immediately and automatically, and I was able to then unplug it and start playing right away. I also really like the color aesthetics. There are a couple minor negatives I should mention. The trigger buttons on the top, which should only move in and out, have some play to them and wobble a little side to side. It was enough for me to notice but it's not a huge distraction. I just worry that they will become more loose and eventually fall out (the right trigger is noticeably worse than the left, so maybe I just got a bad trigger on that side). As far as functionality though, the triggers work fine. The only other negative is that the controller has gone into hibernation a couple times very quickly when paused or inactive for less than a minute. This seems kinda random, since other times I've left a game paused for upwards of 10 minutes and it hasn't happened. It has never happened during actual gameplay.I also want to mention that it has a rumble feature and you can change the intensity. However, even the lowest intensity is much more powerful than the joy-cons, which have a very subtle rumble that keeps you immersed. This controller's rumble, even at minimum, is kinda just distracting. Luckily, you can easily turn it off (and I'm also not counting this as a negative, since the Nintendo pro controller does not even have rumble).Despite a couple minor issues, I still give this 5 stars, because the pros far outweigh the cons and it's still an incredible value at less than half the price of a Nintendo brand pro controller.
I stumbled upon this controller after looking for a more affordable controller for my switch. I have two pro controllers and needed another but didn’t wanna spend another -. This controller is honestly very very good. It is comfortable, about the same shape and feel of an Xbox controller. The triggers, buttons actually feel great. Dare I say better than the pro controller. The one thing I can say feels better are the joysticks. The joysticks on the pro controller feel too light, the joysticks on this controller are perfect. I reach for this controller over my pro controller when i play now. I’m definitely going to grab one more soon. Motion controls work good, it has rumble and nfc. Fantastic control for the $$
I bought this assuming that some of the advertised features would fall short, but so far I am pleasantly surprised. I tested most of the features except for the Amiibo reader (I don't have any...shrug).WAKE UP Function - As advertised. Once you sync it (which is also super easy) it works like a charmRUMBLE - This one is interesting. I appreciate that it can be set to 3 different intensities, BUT it can then only rumble at that one level. If you set it to 100% then every rumble is an intense one. I preferred to set it to the minimum, so little subtle "bumps" in games don't translate to shockwaves ;) Overall not bad and still better than not having rumble. Just maybe consider setting it low.NFC - didn't try, don't knowMOTION CONTROL - Tested it with Moto Rush GT. Worked fine. Not sure if it works on all axis, but worked great for "steering" motionOVERALL QUALITY - Probably not as heavy as a Pro Controller, though I don't have one to compare it to, but I really like the weight and feel of it. The buttons and sticks feel great. I briefly had an issue with a sticking thumb stick, but I was directed to a video explaining how to fix it (just needed to push it in a little more than I had tried). Works a charm. Nice springy, tight sticks. Solid everywhere.BONUS!!!I also managed to connect this to my Macbook Pro with very little trouble. Using Open EMU, I can play all my fave classic games with this. Was using a wired controller until now, so this is heaven!!!
Just got it upon reviewing for this controller, so I might update further on as I continue to use it. Also a note that I’ve never used a Nintendo Pro Controller before, so take that with a grain of salt.I bought this as a controller only meant for the switch, so my expectations were set for a controller for story or non-competitive gameplay (not using it for Rocket League, for example.)So far it has a great feel in the hands. D-pad buttons and ABXY are solid (I personally like flat faced buttons than rounded like an Xbox controller has. These ones are a middle ground between a PS4 and Xbox, leaning towards PS4).Except for the analog sticks; they take a bit more effort to press down and super loud compared to the ABXY buttons. Don’t feel super confident to have these as run and melee buttons where they get pressed down the most. And another gripe I have is the plus and minus buttons being the two buttons on top of the face on the controller. Feels too far away where the turbo and screenshot buttons would be used far less in comparison in placement. Though I’ll probably just learn where they are when I use it more.Otherwise, this controller is perfect for the purposes I wanted it for. I haven't tested it for battery life since I play at a desk with the very short USB-Type C cord it came with (probably get a longer cord for wired gameplay). I’d give it a solid 4.5/5 for a good controller on its own. And it is over half the price of a regular Nintendo pro controller.
